Welcome to a new, innovative, research-based behavior intervention program that has an 80% success rate!

The program: Wrist-O-Pic and Teacher's Tutorial

Unique intervention strategies show how metaphors and visual cues are used to change behavior, and teach students to become aware of, and responsible for, their actions.

The case study results obtained during a one-year teacher sabbatical show how metaphors and visual cueing strategies produce positive outcomes for 80% of the behavior referrals.

Of particular interest is the success evidenced in students exhibiting non-compliance, and ADHD-type behaviors. Data shows a reduction in adverse behaviors and special education referrals, as well as improvement in peer relationships and academic achievement.

This intervention process is described in an eight step, easy-to-follow outline, The Teacher’s Tutorial, and in a 1:1 teacher/author- facilitated online course; RTI: Using Metaphors to Change Behavior. This intervention uses the Wrist-O-Pic as a visual cueing device. It provides an option to those in the field who work with “intense” students, with whom the “catch ‘em being good & reward ‘em” approach was not effective. Parents, educators, social workers, and mental health professionals have experienced success when using this technique. In addition to mainstream elementary aged youth, those students in K-12 special education have also greatly benefited from this intervention.

Wrist-O-Pic is manufactured in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Creative Interventions, LLC, exclusively hires young adults with special Abilities to do all product assembly and packaging.
